RAD Studio 10.1 Berlin – Malcolm Groves – Code Partners
Malcolm went to Berlin to attended the launch of RAD Studio 10.1 Berlin (including Delphi and C++Builder 10.1 Berlin) so he is well qualified to give us the heads up.
Malcolm was an early committee member for ADUG and has made many presentations at meetings and symposiums over the years. It was great to get him back in Melbourne in his new role at Code Partners and to hear his views on Embarcadero’s and Delphi’s future.
Within the time available we were treated to a cut down run though of the Berlin launch and convinced that the “new install experience” was noteworthy as were the access to additional component installs directly from the IDE and the Internet of Things enhancements..
Other aspects such as the TBufferedFileStream may only tweak your interest if you are doing small sequential file reads and writes. Control Shift Alt P and hold your mouth right lets you synchronize the interface and implementation definitions and a new features [Select and Bracket], Control W, Edit Multi Paste and clipboard history are also be worth noting.
The jury may still be out on the impact of the Indera’s acquisition of Embacadero and Delphi but there seems to be encouraging signs in the way the Berlin development was treated particularly in the resources allocated to quality.
