Version Control Systems and Databases
This month I want to have a quick look at version control systems and database engines, with the intent of going more in-depth in a later meeting (or even a workshop), depending on the response.
On the admin side of things:
This month I also want to start fishing for subcommittee members. The subcommittee members will meet roughly every 3 months to discuss how things are going and to plan future meetings and events (workshops, symposia). In addition they are expected to help organise those meetings and events.
Also, I would like to organise two workshops in 2010 and want to use the February (and March?) meetings to find out what sort of topics people would be interested in.
And as usual we are happy to deviate from the default agenda whenever somebody comes up with a better proposal for something to look at or discuss.
As always, doors will open at 5:30pm for informal chat, pizza and settings things up. We aim to start the more organised part of the meeting at 6pm.
You can enter through the Library if you are on time (i.e. until just before 6). If you are late and the Library is closed, then look for the entrance from the car park (labelled "Library Meeting Room") just around the corner from the entry to the cinema (on the side of Musgrave Road).
We will probably close the door to keep the noise out, so you may need to knock or call me on 0466 587 553.

Then use BCC cinema entry to go through Library
