ADUG Autumn Symposium 2010
|
This year the ADUG Symposium is on in Melbourne and
Canberra
We are pleased to announce that our special presenter is
Cary Jensen.
Cary will be presenting some of his best subjects, Databases, Datasets and Unicode.
This is you chance to once again meet up with colleagues and here about the latest news from the Delphi World. We hope you can make
it.
Please note that due to the good news that the Unicode presentation is also to be a webinar broadcast there has been a change in the times of the Unicode presentation in Canberra. This has been done to allow the webinar to be broadcast at two different times.
In Canberra, Cary Jensens presentations will be swapped between the morning and afternoon sessions. The MORNING presentation will now be the Unicode Migration and the afternoon presentation will be on Client datasets. This is the opposite to the times shown below.
Your registration
fee includes all refreshments, including lunch and end
of day drinks and nibbles.

Embarcadero update
Malcolm Groves
Malcolm Groves: "What's Cooking in the Lab?" Embarcadero has been investing heavily in R&D since acquiring CodeGear in mid-2008. Some of the results of that investment have already seen the light of day, but there's still plenty to come. In this session Malcolm will talk about and demo some as-yet-unreleased technology from various product groups within Embarcadero. |

Migrating Legacy Applications to Unicode-enabled Delphi
Cary Jensen
Presented by Cary Jensen The latest versions of Delphi introduced significant changes to the basic string classes in order to support Unicode.
Even if you never plan on supporting multiple languages in your applications, these changes have important implications for how you work with strings, especially in those applications originally created using an older version of Delphi.
During November of 2009, Cary reached out to the Delphi community as a whole to learn how different developers approached their Unicode conversions, and discover what kinds of challenges they encountered and solutions they employed.
In this presentation, Cary begins with a general introduction to Delphi's Unicode support, and share's with you the insight shared to him by more than 20 Delphi developers around the world, including noted authors, leading third-party vendors, and front line developers.
Thispresentation will also be a Webinar and is being broadcast in front of a live audience from the two-city Australian Delphi User Group 2010 Autumn Symposium, being held in Melbourne and Canberra, Australia.
The first live broadcast is March 25th 2:00pm (UTC+10), from Melbourne, Australia
The second live broadcast is March 26 9:00am (UTC+10), from Canberra, the Australian Capital City

Jason Tolley
Jason began his career in technology as a teenager literally
sweeping the floors of an electronics engineering company in
outer, eastern Melbourne. Later he completed tertiary studies in
electronics where he learnt hex and assembler programming and
began designing and developing microprocessor and
micro-controller based systems. After four years in another
industry and role, he returned to technology development in 1996
and founded ROK. First learning C, he carefully selected Delphi
2.0 as the company‘s primary development language for
Windows based application development, for which it still remains
today. Jason and ROK are most known for their expertise with
Microsoft Windows Embedded operating systems and assist
organisations around the world in building embedded devices and
appliances by developing operating systems, applications and
“turn-key” solutions.
